Zythe creates innovative digital services that delight users and grow businesses. We do this by understanding and exploiting the impact of emerging online trends.

We are a new kind of company: agile and opportunistic, business-savvy, smart and creative. All of our activities are rooted in what we think is a rare combination: a rigorous, questing approach to problem-solving, coupled with an entrepeneurial can-do attitude. Our most recent project is Sleevenotez: an alpha implementation of our own thin-portal platform. Sleevenotez is real-time information client for digital music, in a constant state of evolution based on our latest insights and research.

Regular news updates, opinion and intelligence can be found on our blog.

Kwaydo is Zythe's thin portal product. It provides a low maintenance and cost effective solution to anyone looking to generate value or revenues from aggregated content.

Kwaydo's key features include:

  • Flexibility: Kwaydo can aggregate multiple information services from a variety of sources, whether APIs, feeds or screen-scraping;
  • Modularity: each information service is a widget-based tool, meaning it can be re-purposed according to specific needs;
  • Context: Kwaydo presents information based on a user's specific query or context (e.g. a travel portal would populate its widgets with relevant content based on the query 'new york');
  • Real-time: Kwaydo can be configured for real-time responsiveness, so that content updates on the fly when prompted by time-based events;
  • Self-editing: User-facing tools allow the community to choose their preferred content through voting/modding and user contributions. In this way, the portal evolves organically according to user needs;
  • Customisation: individual users can potentially configure the layout of their personal portal view; the entire application may also be rapidly re-skinned as part of a white-label service.

Sleevenotez aims to return value to music by re-coupling it with the huge wealth of content now available across the Web.

Sleevenotez is a project we've been working on for some time. It's an alpha implementation of the Kwaydo thin portal platform, and as such functions as an example of the kind of service that can be developed for a specific vertical market.

Since its launch in late 2006 we have acquired hundreds of registered users, and received some glowing coverage in the online press. Sleevenotez has been variously described as:

  • "...The shape of things to come. Not CRM, but metadata-powered Media Relationship Management."

    Stephen Johnson, Nokia.

  • "...One of the best ways to learn more about the artists that perform our favorite music."

    Paul Lamere, Sun Labs.

  • "...A great demo for Zythe, which is clearly the true application here and one which takes widget model to a new level."

    Mike Butcher, Vecosys.

We are working on additional projects, all of which will be announced through the Zythe blog.

Zythe operates across a variety of domains. It is agile and opportunistic, business-savvy, smart and creative. This multi-disciplinary approach is a reflection of the people behind Zythe. It's the way we work best.

The Zythe team has worked both for and with some of the largest and most successful global companies, including Sky, France Telecom, Shell, EMI and Orange. We have gleaned a huge amount of experience from a variey of high-profile roles, and can marshal a wide range of capabilities if needed. Our particular strengths are new product innovation and Web 2.0 principles and practices.

We develop products for both ourselves and our clients because of our numerous passions and interests. We have multi-disciplinary and complimentary skill-sets. We are innovators, creative technologists, entrepeneurs, developers and designers. We challenge preconceptions and assumptions. We are idiosyncratic and iconoclastic. We are passionate about technology, but only as a means to an end. We like to be stretched. We like to deliver results.

Our strategic partners include Carbon Imagineering and Isotoma.

'Revolutionary behaviour' isn't a buzz-phrase. Buzzwords don't count for much, but actions do. And the behaviours exhibited by increasing numbers of users across the net amount to nothing less than a revolution.

Zythe innovates in a space we call the 'revolutionary web'. It's a place where users call the shots, where entrepreneurs disrupt established business models overnight, and where orthodoxy is challenged at every turn. Unless you're prepared to exhibit 'revolutionary behaviour', it's a tough place to thrive.

Our knowledge and expertise means that we have a rich understanding of the challenges in this fluid environment. As well as developing our own products, we also help businesses navigate through the heady mix of new technologies, standards, design trends, development methodologies and business models that characterise the current online revolution.

In order to understand and anticipate future disruption, we also attempt to exhibit 'revolutionary behaviour' in everything we do. Anything less won't yield the results we want. To quote Google: "great just isn't good enough."
